Give your audience something to be interested in by building relationships and interacting with them.
For many, social media engagement is key, and we all know how nice it feels when something we post gets a reply or a reaction. Respond to questions, ask questions, create a community of followers who are fascinated by the work you do, or the work of your brand.
Within Twitter, you can also create lists of people important in your realm, which will make it easier to find content to share and engage with. It may help, benefit or entertain your followers.
There are also many apps and systems that will allow you to ‘listen’ to the conversation on social media, even if you aren’t directly involved.
Customer relations is important to building relationships and improving social media engagement. Help out customers who ask questions (or make complaints) to show them that you care.
Other ways to increase social media engagement can be to start a conversation about something people might be interested in within your sector. It may not be directly related to selling your product, but try to think how you can help and build a trust with people you are hoping to perhaps convert into customers one day.
Promoting ‘brand enthusiasts’, people who enjoying using your products, can also be a good way to show how your brand is having a positive effect on others.
Keep an eye on relevant events or moments in time that could allow you to join in the conversation elsewhere and enjoy more social media engagement. You don’t always have to meet new friends in your own backyard.
Just make sure the content that you are sharing and interacting with is relevant to your industry and can help you within your network, and more importantly, help your audience and make them feel like you care.
